It’s true. Sonic does not look good. He looks bad in every scene he’s in. Let’s get that out of the way; Sonic looks bad. But...the movie itself looks kinda ok? A little bit? Maaaaybe Jim Carrey can save it?

Yeah, this looks exceptionally bad. I appreciate the Coolio song to try and make it nostalgic but everything else is just taking a giant steaming dump on my youth. As you said, maybe Jim Carrey can save it, but I doubt it. They didn’t even both to fatsuit him?

Nah. There isn’t anywhere near enough time to fix this. If we have a trailer already, that means a whole lot of - if not all of - the movie has already been shot. Effects already done. Most of what we’ll get in the theater is already out of the oven. Redesigning Sonic now means re-shooting and reanimating all those effect scenes, and that’s just not gonna happen a handful of months out from release.
They could instead delay it, but you don’t do that because there’s no use trying to polish a turd. You shit it out and hope for the best. If the worst comes instead, the shelves of walmart will await you like they do every crappy movie that later bombs.

Jim Carey will not fix anything. He has gone completely off the deep end. Dead girlfriend under suspicious circumstances - politically motivated “art” that is just.....disturbing. The guy is gone. Too bad, he used to be funny, but he has seriously lost his grip on reality.

like
this could have been one of those so-bad-it’s-funny movies, but an effort was made, thus
punting it back towards the
realm of regular bad movies. It’s like some sort of moviemaking
uncanny valley,
